Next Step

Timothy is now our son, but he is still a ward of the orphanage here in Sevastopol and will need to continue staying there until certain paperwork can be finalized. So.......... we have taken the next step.

This morning we made a birthday visit to the director of the orphanage, Angelina. This was supposed to be the day that we finished up business at the orphanage, but a birthday of the director is a big deal and the "business" will need to be done next Monday. The director had important city officials stopping in all day to offer well wishes and she needed to be available to receive them. Olga made sure we brought her a bouquet of roses and a cake. Business is surely done differently here.

Angelina the orphanage's head doctor and director

We had a good visit with Timothy and then lunch with Vitaly and Olga before going back to the orphanage to pick Timothy up for his passport application. He was all dressed up and had a different little hat on. They put a hat on every child, regardless of the weather. They put a scarf on Timothy so that he does not take his hearing device off.

He did great in the car ride. He was "all eyes" taking in the traffic. I thought maybe Vitaly would tone it down a bit, but no. The ride was fast and furious and Timothy seemed to enjoy every bit of it. When Vitaly came to a stop, Timothy would look at V and shake his head "yes". He wanted more!

We have now applied for Timothy's passport. This will take a few days to receive. Olga was informed today that the main man who handles her passports in Kiev is out of the office on his summer vacation. We are praying that things will continue smoothly and that we will receive the passport on Monday August 20th. We have plane tickets for Kiev on Tuesday. If we do not receive the passport, this will delay the entire next step.

We cannot apply for Timothy's visa at the American embassy in Kiev until we receive his Ukrainian passport. So we are leaving the timing in God's hands. We are walking under His yoke. We are trusting Him to make our path straight.

One more picture of our handsome little guy waiting at the passport office. He does not understand the concept of posing for a photo. That will have to change because this mother LOVES to take pictures, especially of her children. So happy tonight that he is our child.

  2. Hi Erica, Ed, Lydia and Peter....Timothy is so darn cute. He fits right in with how cute Lydia and Peter are... Love the pictures and his hat. I see they don't have car seats in the Ukraine...never thought about that before. How do you feel about that Lydia and Peter? I also now understand why Timothy wears a scarf. I told dad yesterday when we first saw him, that it must be to protect him from the sun and then he replied...well then why doesn't he have a shirt on....Oh I replied and then I was stumped. We sure are praying that all will go like clockwork for next week. Just know that whatever way it turns out, it was meant to be. Love you all very much. Give the kids a big hug from us. Love, Mom and Dad

  3. Hi All He is soooo adorable (just like his brother and sister) We wondered why he wore a scarf. Makes sense now. I am sure you are anxious and excited to get back home and Timothy doesn't know to be excited yet. All in good time. We hope everything falls into place so you can back here soon. It is warm today but then we are going to have a stretche of cool weather. Can't wait to sleep with the windows open. Love and kisses to all of you, Dad and Linda

  4. So good to see a picture of "mom and dad." Have seen lots of the kids. Your new son is absolutely adorable. I cried again last night when I showed the pictures to Bill and Meghan. I bet Lydia and Peter are going to be great big sister and big brother. They look so loving in the pictures with Timothy. I suppose they are getting excited for school, which isn't very far away now. Trevor and Abi are starting to get organized for their trips to school. We move Abi in on the 31st and Trevor on the 3rd. Gustavus starts classes on the 4th. Well, I hope and pray everything falls into place next week for you. God will surely show the way. Give the three kids a big hug from us. Can't wait to see you all!

  6. Timothy is so adorable! And yes, it was good to see a picture of you & Ed. You both look SO excited and SO proud! I'm sure the "process" is getting trying. But you wanna make sure it's all done right. I'm sure you all just wanna be done, take Timothy with you, be able to hold him for as long as you want, tuck all three of the kids into bed and just watch them sleep with a happy heart and a overwhelming feeling of complete. I'm sure the kids want to get home to prepare for school, just around the corner. I can't wait to read their essays on "What I did this summer." I doubt very much there will be anyone who can top their adventures! And maybe have a good ole pizza...roast beef...chicken...apple pie...oh sorry, just rambling.
Dorothy made it look so easy. Just put on your ruby slippers, close your eyes and click your heels together 3 times while repeating "there's no place like home", "there's no place like home!"
It won't be long now. I just pray that the next few days go smoothly and you get quality time together while waiting for the passport & visa to go through and things continue to fall into place. Your blogs are always highly anticipated each day...you have done an admirable job!

Was hoping to catch up on your blog this morning, 7 a.m. thursday morning here.Miss you guys alot can't wait to see everyone,Hope you are back by Joyful Noise.Stay strong and trust in the Lord.Just remember the scriptures are full of stories of people who waited years even decades before the Lord,s promises came to pass. What modern believers can learn from the patience of biblical saint,s like Abraham,Joseph,David, and Paul is that waiting upon the Lord has eternal rewards. So stay obedient and endure until the Lord acts on your behalf, and you shall abide in his favor.Give everybody HUGS and KISSES we miss you. Looking forward to your return.
    Love
