Honestly, it did feel different. "K" greeted us with big smiles and came to us immediately. There is one mama in particular that is so good with him and the others. Today "K" came right into my arms for a big hug. The mama took his hand and had him pet my hair. Good thing I am not picky about my hair-do! She also makes sure that Ed, Peter and Lydia each get a hug and hair rub. Then she sends us on our way.
We had such a nice visit. "K" just loves playing ball with us. He really loves to throw it in off limits territory and watch Peter run after it. He loves trying to copy P and L. When they climb the jungle gym, he climbs the jungle gym. When they go for a walk, he goes for a walk, etc. He and I had some time to ourselves today. He was pretty sweet and actually cuddled up for a bit. It didn't last too long, but it was a nice moment for this "new" mother's heart.
We are so eager to get this little guy home. I can't wait for him to feel grass, to pet a rabbit, to roast a marshmallow, to share story and prayer time, to be introduced to all our loved ones. We just cannot wait.
We spent some time this afternoon playing catch at a small "park" type promenade area. It was hot, but we needed to have some activity. While we were there, people started gathering for a wedding. It was a beautiful setting except for the American family running after a Lightning McQueen bouncy ball in the background. We were going to leave, but Peter really wanted to stay for the "kiss". So we lurked in the background.
The bride was the picture of wedding fashion. Which leads me to the name of the blog post. The women here dress to the "T", especially back in Kiev. From the dress and hand bag all the way down to the shoes, they look like they are straight from a fashion magazine. Being the American family dressed for comfort and sensibility, we often find ourselves asking, "How do they walk in those?"
